Lynette HinrichsLynette began her Criminal Justice studies in 1998 while serving in the U.S. Army at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Hawaii. Throughout her military career, Lynette balanced her academic pursuits with multiple relocations and a year-long deployment to Kuwait in 2003. Following her return, she completed a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management at the University of Maryland.
Lynette’s passion for criminal justice inspired her to transition from a military career to a role with the National Security Agency (NSA). She completed the NSA’s Special Agent Course, receiving advanced training in interrogation tactics, nuanced interview techniques, and investigative methodologies. In this role, she applied her expertise to conduct thorough background investigations on NSA applicants, successfully eliciting key confessions that directly impacted security clearance decisions—either disqualifying candidates or allowing them to move forward in the vetting process. |
Lynette also served as a Senior Polygraph Examiner, conducting 1,039 polygraph examinations on applicants and employees. Drawing on her 13 years of military experience, deep understanding of psychological and behavioral responses, and advanced interview techniques, she was able to assess and adjust testing methods in real time. This approach supported truthful individuals in successfully completing their exams while uncovering critical adjudicative evidence for clearance decisions. Her work directly contributed to national security by identifying and disqualifying 129 individuals who posed security risks, based on confessions involving breaches of classified information, domestic violence, drug activity, internet-related offenses, child abuse, and other serious crimes.
