Melinda RiosMelinda Rios is a Crime Analyst with the Porterville Police Department. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton, in 2010 and began her law enforcement career in 2013 as a Dispatcher and Records Clerk with the Lindsay Police Department.
In 2017, Melinda joined the Porterville Police Department as a Communications Dispatcher. Over the years, she has held various roles, including Records, Dispatch, Executive Assistant, Code Enforcement, Community Service Officer, Animal Control, Evidence, and Crime Scene Processing. Recognizing the need for data-driven policing, she played a key role in establishing the department’s first Crime Analyst position, which she has held since 2022. In this role, she supports Patrol, Command Staff, and Investigations with crime trend analysis and case-related intelligence. |
Melinda is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration and remains actively involved in the crime analysis community. She is a member of the Central Valley Crime and Intelligence Association and serves on the board of the California Crime and Intelligence Analysts Association.
