Adam Wells Adam has his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Lindenwood University, a master’s degree in forensic psychology with a concentration in Police Psychology from Walden University, and he is currently working on his dissertation with Walden University’s Doctoral Forensic Psychology program with a concentration in Criminal Justice.
Adam served five years as a Training Instructor for the Behavioral Sciences Education and Training Division at the United States Army Military Police School. He taught in the Domestic Violence Intervention Training Course, and assisted with instruction in the Multi-Disciplinary Strangulation Response and Investigation Course and the Law Enforcement Response to Strangulation in the Special Victims |
Capabilities Course. He regularly trained on topics such as the neurobiology of trauma, effects of trauma on children, offender behavior, high-risk domestic violence lethality factors, response to vulnerable populations, officer safety, and officer self-care. He has also attended multiple interview and interrogation training courses, including Practical Kinesics, P.E.A.C.E., and Trauma Informed Interviewing. He currently assists in instruction at Fort Leonard Wood in a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training course.
Adam has served as a commissioned law enforcement officer in Missouri for over 20 years. As a civilian law enforcement officer, he received CIT and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) training. He also served as a Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training Generalist Instructor, Basic Firearms Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, Taser Instructor, and Principles and Fundamentals of Close Quarter Tactics Instructor. He has considerable training and experience in major crime scene processing and photography, evidence handling procedures, interview and interrogation techniques, general crimes, domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault investigations.
In addition to his years of service as a civilian law enforcement officer, he also served eight years with the Missouri Army National Guard. As a Military Police Staff Sergeant with the National Guard, he led Law & Order operations while deployed in support of both State Emergency Duties and Overseas Deployment Training. He was a part of the Show Me Protection II in Ferguson and St. Louis, MO, and served during a deployment in Afghanistan.
Adam and his wife are the owners and lead operators of Criminal Justice Services (CJS) as of January 01, 2022. Adam is certified as a Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) facilitator and is certified to teach many of the MRT programs. CJS is a member of the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies (NAPSA). Adam had been employed part-time with CJS since 2012, developing course material and working with offenders in domestic violence prevention, drug and alcohol education, anger management, and victim impact. He was formally certified as a Recognized Associate Substance Abuse Counselor II (RASAC II), working with first responders and military veterans struggling with substance abuse issues. Adam also conducts Pre-Sentence Investigations and provides the courts with a Sentencing Assessment Report on convicted offenders awaiting sentencing. Furthermore, he has conducted assessments of offender behaviors to assist the courts with treatments, groups, and/or courses best suited to the offender’s assessment and needs.
Adam has also started Veritas Legal Consulting and Services, where he has provided private consultation with prosecution teams regarding the review and analysis of evidence and reports. Adam has also worked with defense attorneys to provide input regarding interview and interrogation techniques.
Adam is a member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology (SPCP), Missouri Psychological Association (MOPA), Advancing Pretrial Policy & Research (APPR), International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), CIT International, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Furthermore, Adam has served on the Board of Directors for Great Mines Health Center since June 2023.
