billy little, JR. BILLY L. LITTLE, JR., is a nationally recognized capital defense attorney. He is currently semi-retired and living in Linn Creek, Missouri. From 2015 to 2021, Mr. Little was a criminal defense investigator for the United States Navy. Mr. Little was twice a recipient of the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal for his contributions to the Navy defense bar. Prior to serving with the Navy, he was the Deputy Chief Defense Counsel for the Military Commissions where he was responsible for overseeing the representation of the death penalty cases at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Mr. Little has handled 17 capital murder cases, in addition to multiple other homicide cases. Some of the cases Mr. Little has handled include an Iraqi “honor killing” case; a

client who was a Lost Boys of Sudan; “suicide by cop” case; two cases where the clients were accused of killing their entire family; and three infanticide cases. Mr. Little has received national and international media coverage, including 48 Hours, Dateline, Discovery ID, Dr. Phil, ABC, NBC, Fox News, and many others.
Mr. Little was a founding member of the Arizona State Bar’s Military Legal Assistance Committee. This Committee works to find solutions to the unique legal problems facing active duty and former military members. In addition to his work with this Committee, Mr. Little has been active in establishing Veterans’ Courts in the state of Arizona. These courts separate veterans from the general population of offenders and seek to provide treatment to veterans in an effort to reduce recidivism and improve the quality of life for veterans. The veterans’ court initiatives have been successful and Mr. Little was recognized for his efforts when he received an award for outstanding contribution to the legal profession in 2010.
Mr. Little currently serves on the Judicial Appointment Committee for the Salt River Pima Indian Community. While serving as a member of the Maricopa Bar Criminal Law Committee, Mr. Little co-published the Handbook for the Arizona Criminal Law Practitioner. Mr. Little was also an Administrative Law Judge for the state of Arizona.
Mr. Little proudly served 24 years as a military officer and retired in 2011 as a Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves. Mr. Little served on active duty as a Marine Corps Officer from 1987 to 1991. He then served on active duty in the Air Force from 1992 to 1996 and in the Air Force Reserves from 1996 to 2011. His military experience took him to Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. He received numerous personal decorations for his contributions to the country.
Mr. Little was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1961. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri, St. Louis, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1986; a graduate of National University with a Masters in Business Administration in 1990; and Arizona State University with a Juris Doctorate in 1999.
