EXPERIENCE
Bret Sayer is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah and has worked in public safety and security for 20 years. Bret is a security manager for a major corporation in Salt Lake City and oversees a security team of over 50 officers. He attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah with an emphasis of study in Criminology, Forensics, Chemistry and Laws of Evidence. Bret assisted with the state legislation in improving security training and increasing the required training hours. He has extensive experience in crime scene preservation, investigations, executive protection, surveillance threat detection, physical security and working in conjunction with local, state and federal agencies. Bret is a K9 Human Remains (Cadaver) Handler with Fide Canem Cold Case with his 6 year old Black Labrador Retriever named Halo. He has been a search and rescue K9 handler for 8 years. Bret and Halo have been on many deployments for both live and deceased missions in |
various types of terrain and conditions. He was assigned to be the callout coordinator and law enforcement liaison in deploying and activating search and rescue teams. Bret was responsible to dispatch and deploy teams based on the needs of law enforcement and also communicate and schedule helicopter support. He also was an instructor for crime scene preservation and documentation to the search and rescue K9 handlers and support personnel. Bret also set up training scenario situations with multiple agencies working together in locating and transporting subjects in various wilderness applications.
Bret has volunteered countless hours in the community with he and Halo attending demos for various groups talking about search and rescue, what to do if you are lost, what items you must have when hiking or camping and demonstrations using the K9’s on how they work.
Bret is a member of the Utah Sheriff Search and Rescue Association and is certified with the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR) as a SARTECH 2. Other certifications include Crime Scene Preservation (San Juan County Colorado Sheriff’s Office), Wilderness Survival, Wilderness First Aid, AED, CPR, C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team), Emergency Support Functions for Search and Rescue (FEMA), Deployment and Incident Command Systems (FEMA), Hazardous Materials (FEMA) and Blood Bourne Pathogen’s (FEMA).
