Daniel D. Swanson Daniel D. Swanson has been involved in Law Enforcement for over 30 years. He worked in Law Enforcement for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for over 20 years. His involvement in numerous investigations throughout Clark County resulted in many cases being closed. During that time, he worked in a multitude of assignments as a police officer, detective, and government liaison. He credits his workplace experience to one of the most respected agencies in the country. Upon retiring from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, he went on to get lateral certification through the State of Utah POST, and worked as a reserve officer for several years in the Salt Lake area. Daniel was highly involved in local and state politics, and was appointed by the Governor of Nevada to serve as a State of Nevada Wildlife Commissioner. He served in that capacity for three years learning the intricacies of state government.

Daniel attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he attained his Bachelors in Arts in Political Science. He went on to receive his Masters of Arts in Criminal Justice from UNLV in 2010. His Master’s thesis involved the analysis of millions of calls for service and its impact on directed patrol activities, Displacement or diffusion: A secondary analysis of the Las Vegas Safe Village Initiative.
Daniel began teaching Criminal Justice at Broadview University throughout Utah and Idaho. He then accepted an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Southern Utah University position, where he has been teaching for approximately 8 years. Daniel has kept up with the law enforcement community and the advancements in evidence testing through constant research and networking with current professionals in all levels of law enforcement. He currently assists Law Enforcement with Sex Offender risk Assessment, by developing interactive crime maps that allow them quicker responses to needed activities.
