Dr. Spencer ChaineySpencer Chainey is an associate professor at the University College London Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science, and has over 25 years of experience working in policing, law enforcement and public safety. Dr Chainey is a certified geographic profiling analyst, and is one of the world’s leading trainers in geographic profiling which has included his involvement in working with police agencies internationally in supporting and advising them in the use of geographic profiling for criminal investigation. He also works with investigators in helping them to improve their investigative processes, such as making better use of analysis and identifying points for targeted investigation. His work is much published, and includes his

definitive books on the geography of crime including ‘Understanding Crime: Analyzing the Geography of Crime, and ‘GIS and Crime Mapping’ (co-authored with Jerry Ratcliffe).
