Jennifer ThompsonJen has been involved with law enforcement and forensic science for 25 years. While at the University of Baltimore, Jen spent a semester working with Baltimore City’s Homicide Unit. After receiving her B.S. in Psychology at the University of Baltimore, she was chosen as one of five interns from across the nation to work at the F.B.I.’s National Center for the Analysis of Violent and Behavioral Science Units. During her internship Jen helped to develop the first ever study of internet driven child pornography practices; she presented a variety of research findings to the Profiling Unit; Jen also initiated testing of a new protocol for interviewing imprisoned serial killers; she was responsible for maintain and updating databases of information regarding serial killers. Jen also attended numerous FBI Academy case consultations and training seminars. This experience propelled her into the field of

forensics. She earned her master’s degree in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven. While obtaining her master’s degree in forensics Jen developed a keen interest in law enforcement and worked as an investigator for the District Attorney’s Office in Sacramento, CA, and supported multiple attorneys.
She conducted interviews of both defendants and victims, assisting in cases involving narcotics, assault, and murder. Jen collected evidence and maintained records of investigative activities, worked directly with Public Defenders to accommodate their requests to review evidence for trial, and handled confidential court documents.
After receiving her master’s degree, Jen worked as a forensic investigator for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore, MD. The team handled a statewide case load of over 2,000+ autopsies, responding to crime-scene or hospital calls, and conducting case fieldwork in Baltimore City. As an Investigator, she worked in a fast-paced, high-stress, procedure-intensive and often, hazardous environment.
Recognized as a strong leader and team member among a unit of 10 Investigators at the OCME, Jen collaborated with and collected evidence and details for a dedicated team of 15+ Medical Examiners. She produced documentation and written reports regarding evidence and data she collected and interviews she conducted, adhering to strict privacy protocols while handling extremely sensitive and confidential information. Jen liaised with the media, attorneys, and families of the deceased, and cooperated with other state and local agencies as necessary.
Jen’s interest in criminal behavior led her to pursue opportunities at the Federal level. She became a Senior Polygraph Examiner and Special Agent for the National Security Agency. Her work involved administering criminal, pre-employment and administrative polygraph examinations; recording, interpreting and analyzing responses; performing background investigations, Interviews, and interrogation. She performed over 1000 exams as a polygraph examiner, eliciting information regarding both major and minor crimes.
Jen’s extensive knowledge of forensics, polygraphy, crime scene analysis and investigation, as well as interview and interrogation skills, make her distinctively qualified to serve law enforcement in this unique capacity.
