Michael W. Streed Michael W. Streed is a (Ret.) Police Sergeant and award-winning, internationally recognized Forensic Facial Imaging Expert based in the Los Angeles-Baltimore/Washington DC Metropolitan areas.
For the last four decades, Michael has combined his extensive law enforcement experience and artistic skills to provide forensic facial imaging services to some of the largest, most diverse, police agencies in the United States, including the Baltimore and Los Angeles Police Departments. |
In 2011, Michael was selected to become Baltimore Police Department’s first ever, full-time, I.A.I. Certified Forensic Artist and was immediately tasked with building their Forensic Facial Imaging Unit from the ‘ground up’. Once established, he handled one of the country’s busiest forensic art caseloads. Later, Michael led the unit to become the ‘first-of-its-kind’ to be awarded ISO 17020 accreditation.
During his career Michael gained a unique perspective on eyewitnesses during violent crime investigations, including sexual assaults and homicide. This helped Michael develop highly- specialized interview skills which he adapted for his role as a police sketch artist. His experience, coupled with strong communication skills, made Michael one of Southern California’ s most sought after police sketch artists. Orange Coast Magazine once referred to him as “one of California’s most vital artists.”
Michael has frequently been called upon by investigators during critical, high-profile cases; including: The Samantha Runnion Abduction/Murder (Orange County, CA), The Anthony Martinez Abduction/Murder (Riverside County, CA), The Baton Rouge Serial Killer (Baton Rouge, LA), The Anna Palmer Murder (Salt Lake City, UT) and The Fortune Teller Murder (Orange County, CA).
His skills have also been used by law enforcement during critical cold case investigations.
For example, his facial reconstructions of two brothers murdered by outlaw motorcycle gang members led to their identity after their skeletal remains were found buried after 25 years. Michael also provided the U.S. Marshal’s Service with his expert opinion about two men thought to be the Anglin Brothers who escaped from Alcatraz Prison with Frank Morris in 1962. He recently provided expert analysis of the composite sketches produced during the Golden State Killer investigation in California.
As the President/CEO of SketchCop® Solutions, Inc., Michael provides global law enforcement with forensic facial imaging services, specializing in cold case investigations and those that require his experience and specialized skills.
