Patty TackettIn August of of 2021, Patty Tackett retired from the Dayton Police Department in Dayton Ohio after 31 years of service. Detective Tackett started out working property crimes where she specialized in solving both commercial and residential burglaries. She was then transferred to the Homicide Unit where she worked as a Cold Case detective for 16 years. Patty had the distinct honor of working closely with the community and victim’s families while investigating a large number of unsolved homicides, cold cases and missing person’s cases. Detective Tackett worked closely with many local and national media outlets while investigating cold cases.

During the course of her career, Patty wore a number of different hats and had a wide range of responsibilities within The Dayton Police Department. She was a member of the hostage negotiations team and also served on the Southwestern Ohio Critical Incident team. She was deployed to NYC in 2001 with the Southwest Ohio Critical Incident team post 9/11 to assist with facilitating NYPD debriefings.
Detective Tackett was later tasked with the development and implementation of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program as well as specialized mental health courts and the mobile crisis response team (MCRT) which has allowed her to advocate and collaborate for some of society’s most vulnerable individuals.
Detective Tackett has been a certified instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy for more than 25 years and she has conducted trainings for the Dayton Police Academy, local community colleges, and other LE agencies as well as different agencies in the community with crisis de-escalation and wellness.
Since her retirement, Patty continues to be involved with several different community boards, and she continues to instruct while also doing some consulting work.
