Peter F. BrustPeter F. Brust has over 30 years of government, law enforcement and private sector security experience, most of which involved conducting and supervising investigations. He has a long history of establishing close working relationships with law enforcement colleagues and subject matter experts worldwide.
After graduating from high school Brust enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the 2nd Ranger Battalion, Fort Lewis, WA, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and was honorably discharged. He then went to college on the G.I. Bill and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Sciences. After graduating from college, he obtained a Juris Doctor Degree. |
Brust began his law enforcement career in the mid-1980s in the State of Illinois. After graduating as President of his Illinois State Police Academy class, he served as a Special Agent in the Illinois Department of Revenue’s Investigative Services Bureau. In 1986 he entered on duty as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
His 22-year career with the FBI began in the Bureau’s Tucson, AZ, Resident Agency. He went on to successfully conduct and/or supervise numerous complex cases involving homicides, sexual assaults, kidnappings and other serious criminal matters. He served in a variety of field office and headquarters positions, and as a result garnered a broad base of experience addressing violent crime, crimes against children, white collar crime, national security, counterterrorism and cyber violations. He was especially effective in creating multi-agency task forces and information sharing operations, including state and local violent crime and counterterrorism task forces/intelligence centers and an international task force combatting the online sexual exploitation of children. Upon his retirement from the FBI as a Special Agent in Charge in the Los Angeles Field Office, he was appointed Deputy Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department’s newly established Bureau of Professional Standards, where he served for three years.
While with the Chicago Police Department, Brust dedicated himself to improving the training, supervision, resource focus, accountability and professionalism of the department. He directed the department’s efforts to strategically address high crime areas through the analysis of tactical deployments and other investigative strategies. As a result, the city’s violent and property crime rates declined.
Most recently Brust worked in private industry, both as a regional vice president for a major U.S. based security firm and for six years as senior director of fleet security for the Holland America Group.
Peter Brust has long dedicated himself to public service, with a keen personal interest in solving crimes and assisting victims and their families.
