Peter M. BUckleyPeter M. Buckley has broad-based investigative experience in over 30 years of local and federal law enforcement. He has a history of building relationships with other law enforcement agencies in order to achieve success in complex investigations.
After graduating from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Administration, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army where he earned the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Following his service in the Army, Buckley attended the University of Illinois and obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling. In 1983, Buckley began working as a deputy sheriff for the McLean County Sheriff’s Office. He received his |
initial training at the Illinois State Police Academy and graduated as President of his academy class. In 1986, Buckley began his career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Buckley worked as a Special Agent in Phoenix, Arizona; Chicago, Illinois, and the Bureau’s Champaign, Illinois Resident Agency. Buckley also worked as a supervisor of new agents at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia and as a Team Leader on the FBI’s Inspection staff at FBI Headquarters. As a Special Agent, Buckley successfully conducted and/or managed a variety of crimes, from international terrorism and foreign counterintelligence to kidnapping, murder-for-hire, bank robbery, violent street gangs and public corruption. As a member (and later supervisor) of an FBI-Chicago Police-Illinois State Police-IRS-Cook County Sheriff Gang Task Force for ten years, Buckley learned the importance of coordination with multiple law enforcement agencies to conduct in-depth criminal conspiracy investigations. This ability to work with other agencies served him well when Buckley was designated as the Team Leader for all U.S. Department of Justice investigative personnel (FBI-DEA-USMS-ATF) in Doha, Qatar during a 100-day assignment supporting the Regime Crime Liaison Office (RCLO). Evidence discovered by the RCLO was used to prosecute Saddam Hussein and his lieutenants for Crimes Against Humanity.
Following his 24-year career in the FBI, Buckley worked as the Chief Deputy for the Douglas County (Illinois) Sheriff’s Office. This small law enforcement agency required Buckley to not only serve as an administrator, but to function as an investigator when needed. Of major importance was Buckley’s ability to coordinate with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to combine assets necessary to bring criminal investigations to a successful conclusion.
Buckley currently conducts background investigations and serves as a member of the Concealed Carry Licensing Review Board for the State of Illinois. He is involved as a volunteer in a number of charitable organizations and has a strong sense of justice.
