Vincent WallisVince Wallis joined the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. He became a full-time Deputy Sheriff in 1993 moving up the ranks to Sergeant in 1997, Lieutenant in 2007 and Captain in 2014. He served 15 years on the Swat Team, six years as a K9 Officer, 10 years as K9 supervisor, polygraph examiner, background investigator, Administrative Lieutenant, as well as Deputy Coroner.
In 2012 he assumed command of the Detective Division until his retirement in November 2018. |
As part of his duties, he supervised the Cold Case Unit, and was an investigator and oversaw the Cliff & Linda Bernhardt homicide investigation to a successful conclusion. He has investigated and supervised hundreds of cases including homicides, suicides, robberies, missing persons, officer involved shootings, financial crimes, crimes against children, and sex crimes. During his career he has received advanced training in interview/interrogation, background investigations, as well as criminal investigations including cold cases, child deaths, and missing persons.
Vince currently serves his community as a Billings Police Officer and continues to volunteer with the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Cold Case Unit.
