Dean L. Jackson
Dean has a record of service in law enforcement, including serving as Deputy Corner in Wyoming, that spans three decades and departments in the United States and Japan. Dean is a c-level executive and an expert in crisis management, cross cultural communication, and mediation. Dean has mediated hundreds of disputes and crises, including facilitating the cultural blending between stress management in Japan following the Tsunami in North Eastern Japan. Fluent in Japanese, he was personally responsible for opening communication and launching stress management in the city of Rikuzentaka. |
He
has amassed an extensive list of credentials and tens of thousands of
hours of experience in the field. In that time he has personally
performed hundreds of debriefings, death notifications, and one on ones
with officers involved in shootings. In addition he has worked with
officers who are dealing with addictions, high risk behavior, criminal
activity, family conflicts and those who have been suicidal. Dean has
developed, researched and implemented Stress Management Units for first
responder departments.
His services have been retained by cities to conduct independent stress evaluations with Police Departments. He has served as a consultant and resource to Mayors and Chiefs of Police.
Dean has both the professional credentials and qualifications as well as the personal qualities and characteristics required to instruct officers in some of the most emotionally explosive terrain confronted by law enforcement officials. His personal mentoring will assist the officers in maneuvering through potential land mines while avoiding common mishaps that can cause an officer to stumble their way through the maze of stress management, death notification, and officer suicide hazards. He blends practicality and compassion to give officers a solid, humane, and professional means to identify stress, while providing the tools needed to develop resiliency and recovery.
Dean is the Lead Consultant at the JCG, a member of the Utah CISM team, Certified Mediator, and has completed hundreds of hours of research on stress management training programs and best practices. He is a frequent guest lecturer at universities, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, victim's assistant units, and state posts.
Dean as been an active Rotarian and business leader since 1986 and has served as numerous boards and committees. He is a Past District Governor for Rotary International and has served on the Executive Committee of the 2007 Rotary International Convention Host Organization Committee. He is fluent in Japanese and has served as an aide and interpreter of Rotary’s International President and Directors from Japan. In addition he is the former board chair for the Hope Alliance which is a humanitarian organization that empowers impoverished people to create positive and sustainable change in the lives of their families and their communities around the world. He currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Cold Case Foundation.
